However, the A’s struggled even more than I did, only mustering a 2-1 win for the +1 RD, and thus handing the win to the Mariners! Super-Duper Melonheads vs. Still, Sidney did a decent job on the mound for me overall, making it through the entire game.įinal score was 7-3, for a mere +4 run differential. To further underscore the mediocrity of the game, I ended up giving three runs up to the A’s, two on a Debby Nagasawa homer and one on a throw past the first baseman followed by an outfield hit, letting a fast baserunner score easily. Especially frustrating was a case in the fifth inning when I loaded the bases with 8-runners with nobody out, and still failed to score anymore in that inning – Lisa Crockett lined out and then Berit hit into a double play.
I was able to put out a decent effort on offense, churning out a total of 7 runs (4 of which were batted in by a pair of homers by Fabienne), but definitely didn’t do as well as I should have. This game was relatively unremarkable, with no big bad or good days on either side and nothing of especial note happening in the game itself. The Mariners’ first game would be against the Oakland Athletics, a team that I had been able to edge out on Opening Week, and thus one that I was hoping to beat once again.
I decided at the beginning of the series to forego writing about the games as I went through them, in favor of providing this summary post of what happened in each of those games. For some teams, these games were crucial in determining who would come out as playoff teams however, my teams were both eliminated from contention already, and so these games would just be for glory and (hopefully) revenge. The last three weeks of the BBL season were a repeat of the divisional series that had started the season – I’d be facing my three division rivals once more.
